Wherever you are coming from and whether you are

driving or using another method of transport, here are

maps and the directions to find the town and Balmoral

Guest House

  By road

From the north or south, use the A1(M), turn off at

Junction 58 on to the A68 and head towards the town

centre. After about 2 miles you will pass a Shell petrol

station on your right, followed by a Pelican crossing. A

hundred yards further on you will pass another Pelican

crossing and Balmoral Guest House is on the right just

after that crossing. On the A167 (from Northallerton in

the south or Durham in the North) follow the signs to the

town centre and as you approach the inner ring road

follow the signs to the A68 (Bishop Auckland) and you

will pass through a set of traffic lights at a crossroads.

About 100 metres further on is Holy Trinity church and

Balmoral  Guest House is on the left just before the

  Pelican crossing.

From the east, use the A66 from Teesside and follow the signs for the

town centre. As you approach the inner ring road you will see MFI on

your right. Now follow the signs for the A68 (Bishop Auckland) and you

will pass through a set of traffic lights at a crossroads. About 100 metres

further on is Holy Trinity church and Balmoral Guest House is on the

left just before the Pelican crossing. From Teesside Airport, follow the

A67 to the town centre and as you approach the inner ring road, you will

go under two railway bridges and past the Civic Theatre on your right.

Turn right at the roundabout and follow the signs for the A68 (Bishop

Auckland). After three more roundabouts you will pass through a set of

traffic lights at a crossroads. About 100 metres further on is Holy

Trinity church and Balmoral Guest House is on the left just before the

From the west, the A66 joins the A1(M) at Scotch Corner then follow the

inner ring road. Follow signs for the A68 (Bishop Auckland) and after 6

roundabouts you will pass through a set of traffic lights at a crossroads.

About 100 metres further on is Holy Trinity church and Balmoral Guest

House is on the left just before the Pelican crossing.

By rail

Darlington station is on the East Coast Main Line from London to

Edinburgh and most trains stop here. There are also local trains from

Teesside and Bishop Auckland. Leave the station and walk down the

approach road to Parkgate and turn left. The number 25a or 25b buses

pick up at the stop just past the bridge. Ask for Trinity Church which is

about 5 minutes journey time. Alternatively, continue walking into the

town centre, turn right at the market clock tower at the top of Tubwell

Row then left into Bondgate, near Pease's statue. Keep walking straight

along this road and Balmoral Guest House is on the left just after Holy

Trinity Church.

By air

There are several flights from London Heathrow each day plus a number

of regional airports. The number 74 bus goes through the town centre

then follow similar instructions to arriving by rail.
